On Sunday, Italians went to the polls to vote in the country’s general election. Prior to the vote, APCO’s team of experts provided a comprehensive preview of the elections, including a timeline of the next steps for Italy to form its new government and international perspectives from around APCO’s global network. APCO IAC member Barie Carmichael outlined the new challenges companies face when trying to balance business and social risk in today’s world in this CNBC op-ed. APCO Insight’s Amy Garrick and April Gillis took a closer look at corporate advocacy, analyzing Dick’s Sporting Goods' bold move in support of gun control.

Updating on Brexit

The UK’s exit from the European Union is now just 13 months away. APCO’s team of experts in London and Brussels provided an update on the Brexit process in their latest Brexit bulletin, which included analysis from Sir Graham Watson, Nicholas Whyte, Claire Boussagol and Will Wallace, as well as industry-specific updates and a timeline of what’s coming next.

Unpacking the United States’ Proposed Steel and Aluminum Tariffs 

The Trump Administration is considering implementing tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. Gregory Kist, a project assistant in APCO’s Washington-based public affairs practice, shared three things to know about the potential tariffs. Senior director Dan Scandling also joined CGTN America to discuss their potential impact and IAC member Congressman Don Bonker argued that a trade war would be bad for Washington in a Seattle Times op-ed.

Recent Research

APCO Insight's recent survey among hyper-aware and influential consumers in the United States shows that consumer expectations for businesses are changing. Research reveals that 88% of survey respondents agreed that companies should sacrifice short-term financial gains if they’re incompatible with the company’s values.
